Biography engraver: Isidore-Stanislas Helman (1743-1806/1809), was a French draughtsman, engraver and printseller. He was born in Lille in 1743 where he received his early artistic training. His death date is uncertain. He died in Paris in either 1806 or in 1809. In Paris he studied with Jacques-Philippe Le Bas (1707-1783), a draughtsman, engraver and etcher, and was one of his finest pupils. Helman was known especially for his engravings of genre scenes. Biography artist: Charles Monnet / Monet (1732-1808) was a French painter and illustrator, best known for illustrations of the French Revolution.
